Family Tree

Alicia Smith

There are things they never tell you

About the family tree…

Branches matter very little

Once they grow their leaves

There are things you’d never fathom

About the family tree…

The roots are quite forgotten

--The twigs broken to degree

Oh, the things they never tell you about the family tree…

The seasons are quite dreaded

As are the changes in the breeze

The holes are embedded

And patterns hold strong

And every little flaw?

It was passed on.
