A Decent Sandwich

September 8th, 2022.

My final class

had just let out for the day.

On the way home

I stop to grab some lunch.

A sandwich, chips, and soda.

The smell in my car,

wafting as I drive,

reminds me of just how hungry I am.

As I return,

I open my social media feed

and unpack my food.

Her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, has died.

I look to my screen,

then to my sandwich, chips, and soda,

laid out neatly before me

in front of my frazzled feed.

And I eat my sandwich.

It was a decent sandwich.
